The Doky Brothers with Alvin Queen at Vinterjazz at The Standard

In the mid-nineties, pianist Niels Lan Doky and his brother bassist Chris Minh Doky released two albums as the “Doky Brothers” on the iconic Blue Note record label. Both albums sold Gold and are among the most successful Danish jazz albums ever. The Doky Brothers disbanded in 1998 and both brothers went on to create impressive, prolific and enduring individual solo careers. The brothers reunited briefly for the first time in 10 years, in the Summer of 2008, at a sold out show in Tivoli’s Glassalen, where they were both given the Ben Webster Award.

Since then, the brothers have been reuniting sporadically, in 2010, 2015 and now again in 2016, this time joined by one of our all time favorite artists here at The Standard, the legendary drummer Alvin Queen, who last appeared here with Gary Peacock and Niels Lan Doky during last Summer’s Copenhagen Jazz Festival....
