We are very excited to do a Jazz Masterworks Series project around the perhaps most iconic jazz album of all time, “Kind of Blue” by Miles Davis from 1959. For the occasion we have gathered an incredible line-up of musicians to perform and interpret the repertoire from this album. The leading role has been assigned to the ultra phenomenal UK trumpet virtuoso GERARD PRESENCER, mostly known for his work with the group US3 and their global hit “Cantaloop” that sold over 3 million copies worldwide and featured a now legendary trumpet solo of Gerard’s. He will be joined by legendary American drummer ALVIN QUEEN who is a veteran of some of jazz history’s most influential groups (Oscar Peterson Quartet, Horace Silver Quintet, George Benson Trio etc) and the incredible Hungarian tenor saxophone prodigy, GABOR BOLLA, recently heard here at The Standard Jazz Club with Randy Brecker, Gary Peacock and the Getz/Gilberto Jazz Masterworks Series. Joining them on bass is one of Denmark finest young bassists, ANDERS FJELDSTED, who has already performed at The Standard Jazz Club with Niels Lan Doky, Nancy Harms and others. He is inspired by legendary bassists Paul Chambers, Charlie Haden and Ron Carter, the latter of which he studied with in 2015. The piano chair will be filled by another amazing young Dane, ZIER ROMME, one of the most talented new pianists to emerge on the Danish jazz scene in years and who after a career start as an Oscar Peterson disciple is now finding a voice of his own. And finally the Danish alto saxophonist prodigy OILLY WALLACE completes the line-up. Playing in the tradition of Cannonball Adderley he has been the talk of the town for several years and we are proud to present him for his first engagement here at The Standard Jazz Club....
