Together we are making a unique performance space in the heart of Copenhagen. please note that the end of the month we will have monday club both the 31st of oct and tuesday the 1st of november. see more about this below
our october artist in residence is none other than a total pioneer, underground hero and legend mr Carl Bergstrøm Nielsen
Bergstrøm-Nielsen is a singular figure in Danish music, precisely because his efforts in music and with music place the centre of gravity within the creative consciousness of the individual and are at the same time so universal in their appeal that boundaries dissolve. As a theoretician, teacher, organiser, performer and creative artist Bergstrøm-Nielsen has chosen alternative music-making as his main field of activity. Intuition is of prime importance in the philosophical and musical world of this reflective, quiet man who insists on the value of being truly present in every single moment while at the same time being free of preconceived notions. He himself plays several instruments, both ordinary and less ordinary; in his work he has taken a particular interest in improvised music as well as music performed according to ad hoc rules, and music played from sheets and scores with graphically designed non-standard notation....

he will be performing in many exiting constellations each monday in october with a variety of international collaborators. this month the artist in residence concerts will be at 8pm not 9pm as usual...so be there at 8pm when mr Bergstrøm begins!!
3/10
kl 20 the first Carl Bergstrøm Nielsen meeting
Dean Delgiusto (acc)
Marie Wärme (acc)
Malene Bichel (voc)
Carl Bergstrøm Nielsen (french horn, melodica, recorder, voc)
the instrumentation says it all...this will be highly intuitive improvising by mr Bergstrøm Nielsen with two amazing accordionists and a highly interesting vocalist
kl 21Asger Thomsen Trio
Eliot Cardinaux - piano, poetry
Asger Thomsen - bass
Jeppe Høj Justesen - drums
the wonderful bassist Asger Thomsen has invited one of the brightest pianists and poets of his generation Eliot Cardinaux to play with him at the club. Cardinaux lives in Boston and plays with Mat Maneri, Randy Peterson and Thomas Morgan. Cardinaux has worked in the free-music and avant-garde world for over 10 years. His piano sound is characterized by a light-handed touch and tone. His attention to detail in his work is exhibited in the editing process he has developed for his poetry, much like his process for composing, or mixing an album in the studio. His love and study of many musics as well as poetries, but specifically those which innovate, has helped him grow both lyrically and imagistically in his writing and his music. He has performed at the club before with Kresten Osgood. The trio is completed with Jeppe Justesen who is one of the strongest younger drummers in town, known for his work with Christian Kyhl. dont miss this!!!
kl 22 Tomasz Dabrowski´s Ocean Fanfare
Tomasz Dabrowski - tp
Sven Meinild - sax
Richard Andersson - bass
Peter Bruun - drums
yet another exiting band from our favorite polish trumpet player Tomasz Dabrowski, this time sharing the frontline with the great Sven Meinild.
all members of the band are mandagsklubben favorites. Andersson and Bruun play together a lot and its always a joy to hear them.
kl 23 Silent People
Stefano Meucci - Electronics
Gianpaolo Camplese: Drums
Electronic musician Stefano Meucci and drummer Gianpaolo
Camplese forms the electroacoustic duo Silent People. Their music
combines live processed acoustic drums with samples and loops .
Erratic rhythms encounter metallic sound-landscapes and broken samples.
