In the summer of 2013, Rhani Krija meet Marialy Pacheco for the first time and both musicians got along instantly - personally and musically. Together they have created “Marocuba”, a unique and fresh sound that arises in a mix of traditional Cuban music, afro-Moroccan rhythms and contemporary European jazz.


Cubanske Marialy Pachecos karriere er allerede ganske bemærkelsesværdig. Hendes debutalbum blev produceret af Roberto Fonseca, pianist for legendariske Ibrahim Ferrer (Buena Vista Social Club), og i 2012 blev hun den første kvindelige vinder af Montreux Jazzfestival Solo Piano Competition. Rhani Krija fra Marokko har for alvor indtaget jazz- og folkscenen, mens han alsidigt også har bevæget sig ind i genrene rock og pop. I ungdomsårene dannede den traditionelle Nordafrikanske musik bunden for hans musikalske stil, sidenhen har han udviklet evnerne til at spille de fleste stilarter autentisk.
Pacheco og Krija mødte hinanden i sommeren 2013 og blev hurtigt venner – både personligt og musikalsk. Sammen har de nu skabt ”Marocuba”; en unik og frisk lyd, der opstår i et mix af traditionel cubansk musik, afro-marokkanske rytmer og kontemporær europæisk jazz.
