“Ella and Louis” is a 1956 album by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong with the Oscar Peterson Quartet that went on to become one of jazz history’s best-selling and most popular recordings of all time and often referenced by Haruki Murakami in his novels. With her larger-than-life vocal talent, we are extremely proud to have Leandra McNair as a member of the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective. All of her performances this year have garnered standing ovations night after night - not least her Ella Fitzgerald Birthday Celebration shows. With a technical as well as emotional command beyond measure, she is well on her way to becoming one of the great stars of the new generation.
Earlier this year, the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective was blessed with the addition of the extraordinary New York-based vocalist Desmond Scaife Jr. With an unlimited versatility and virtuosity, and equally at home in virtually any genre, Desmond Scaife Jr. has already delivered some of our most memorable shows ever, including his mesmerizing tribute to Nat King Cole and his breathtaking jazz renditions of songs by Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams this past Summer.
